The second check is blank on the front with a handwritten note on the back for the following day. The writing is difficult to read but notes something about one dollar for or from Oscar Goldsmith, also signed by R. E. Sessions. A collection of letters from G. H. Milliken to Oscar Goldsmith regarding various business related topics including stockholders and directors meetings, certificates for shares of Pacolet stock for Judge Walker, the confirmation that Judge Walker's check was received and the stock certificate was mailed, and potential buyers of Huntsville Land Co's. Dallas stock. A detailed breakdown of loans and payments for E. B. Carter in business with I. Schiffman. Correspondence between G. H. Milliken, W. E. Winchester, and Oscar Goldsmith regarding flowers bought for the funeral of Mr. Rison. Handwritten calculations of six month rent from October 1, 1938 to April 1, 1939. Hutchens & Murdock agrees in the original text to pay $161.73. The text that is written on top of the original states that Plummer had received $25.04 in full payment. Various other illegible notes remain. Most likely William Wyeth Newman, these various checks are signed by W. W. Newman from the W. R. Rison Banking Company to various recipients. R. E. Smith, as city attorney, writes to inform Oscar Goldsmith of an unpaid balance for improvements on Jefferson Street. He requests Goldsmith to call the office of the Clerk of the City of Huntsville to settle the claim. Receipt for Oscar Goldsmith's payment of five dollars to Leo N. Levi Memorial Hospital. The hospital is located in Hot Springs, Arkansas and is a mental health facility and, at this time, a nursing school that existed until 1952. Receipt from $85.32 for S. Schiffman & Co. from R. D. McKinney. Receipt of payment of $29.00 from Samuel Strauss for land taxes in Kossuth County, Iowa. Signed bythe treasurer, S. S. Rist. Receipt of payment of $8.50 from E. H. S. signed by Walter Gurley. Receipts detailing the purchase of paint by Oscar Goldsmith and and itemized receipt and list. These documents contain reciepts, correspondence, and payment of the purchase of horse equipment and "1 pair horses" by I. Schiffman. This document details the settlement of the estate of J. B. Parker. The back has calculations of amount owed to Hutchens & Murdock by Plummer. This document states that William Thomas Hutchens paid Andrew J. Murdock $4,702.22 for Murdock's half interest in the pluming and heating business. Attached is the insurance agreement of the property of Hutchens & Murdock and the payment agreement for the insurance. This envelope contained various receipts and handwritten calculations and notes pertaining to the building and assessment of the new street proposed by William Thomas Hutchens. Receipts include totals for paving the streets of Monroe and West Clinton, and the assessment notices of the completed streets. This letter is probably to Oscar Goldsmith and his wife, or whoever maintained correspondence with Ed while Oscar was sick. Ed expresses his apologies for Oscar's condition and states that it was "ideal Spring days" in Chattanooga. After closing the letter, Ed writes on the back: "Please pay the enclosed insurance premium also as I am afraid to pay it and run short of cash." This note outlines the procedure that would occur following the payment of all debts against the firm of Hutchens & Murdock. This official agreement states that Laura M. Powell will pay 6.5 percent interest instead of 8 on her note of June 14, 1920, to be due on December 14, 1929. Written on The First National Bank in Huntsville, Alabama letterhead. This paper acknowledges Hutchens' payment to J. E. Montgomery for "his interest in said firm." Hutchens paid $70.17. This receipt of payment details the purchase of land by Hutchens and Murdock for $144.00 in Madison County. This written receipt acknowledges payment by Hutchens & Murdock for a purchase for the plumbing shop from Huntsville Gas Light Company. Two receipts detailing the sale of horses, wagons, and harnesses to I. Schiffman & Co. for $80.00 and $85.00. Various loan contracts, bills, and receipts for purchases made by Bill Bragg and Percy Bragg from I. Schiffman and Co. in 1906. The final document is a receipt for livestock and equipment in 1907.
