    This is but one of many outstanding Ante-Bellum homes in the area. Its present owner, Mr. Max Luther, has modernized the building without losing any of its gracious beauty, surrounded by almost 200 acres which is now being operated as a stock farm.

    Back: OAKLAWN PLANTATION - one of the most beautiful ante-bellum homes in Huntsville, Alabama - was built around 1844 and served as a hospital during the Spanish-American War. The late Max Luther transformed the 175 acre estate into a stock farm. He also maintained a very fine stable for his noted five- and three-gaited saddle horses.

The note discusses the testimony of Mrs. Willis and Colonal Sheid regarding a search for Sawyer, one of the murdered men. It traces Sawyer's known whereabouts prior to him going missing.     This image of a C.C. Smith transaction from December 8, 1903, is cropped from page 444 in Harrison Brothers Hardware Company daybook 3, 1901-1903. C.C. Smith was from Eva Alabama, as noted at the top of the transaction. In this transaction, C.C. Smith purchased 1#36 asst., 1#8 lamp asst., 1 novelty asst, 2 doz. opal chicks, 1 doz. rabbits, and 1 doz. #150 syrup cans for $55.25. The no. 36 and no. 8 lamp assortments were advertised as special deals offered only by Harrison Brothers.

    The Army's first supersonic anti-aircraft guided missile designed to follow and destroy the enemy target, regardless of evasive action. The Nike-Ajax system consists essentially of two parts First, an expendable missile; second, an elaborate and highly complex control system requiring approximately 1,400,000 individual parts. It is the first guided missile system to defend American cities against attack.
