Description
George Landwehr von Pragenau was born January 5, 1927 in Austria and became a U.S. citizen in November 1963. Von Pragenau joined the von Braun team in Huntsville, Alabama in 1957, where he spent the next thirty-four years working to improve NASA’s space shuttles. During his time working for NASA, von Pragenau was granted ten patents, including one for lighter and safer space shuttles. Von Pragenau retired from NASA in 1991, but he continued to work with NASA through Provident Technology. George L. von Pragenau passed away July 11, 2013. The von Pragenau collection was provided to the UAH archives by his wife, Helga von Pragenau.
